Central Asian Students Conference
16th to 18th of January 2020
“Central Asia? Great! So, can you speak Japanese then?“
Are you tired of always having to explain yourself? Would you like to talk to people who know where Tashkent lies, that Timur was not a river, and that Buzkashi is not edible?
Exchange with people who – like you – are doing research on and in Central Asia, and who share your topics of interest. From water economy to carpet weaving, from migration to Pashtunwali - every research contribution is welcome. Our goal is to offer a platform for young researchers, especially Master’s students, to connect, swap ideas, and inspire each other. At the Central Asian Seminar at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, the region of Central Asia encompasses not only the CIS states of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan, but also Afghanistan, Mongolia, and Tibet.
If you wish to present your research topic, we can grant an allowance to your travel and subsistence expenses. Therefore, please specify upon registration if you are willing to give a talk at the Students Conference and wish to apply for a subsidy grant.
As this is a conference organised by and for students, we want you to get involved in the process from the start. Soon, we will launch a platform where every participant enters their research topic and can organise carpooling and couchsurfing.
