Homelessness and Homemaking at the Intersection of Public and Private:
Nusaybin as a Border City in Post-Conflict, 2016-23

The presentation will be on the conflicts of homelessness and homemaking practices of the DP (displaced people) who have forcedly left their homes after the armed conflicts that had taken place between the YPS (Yekineyen Parastina Sivil - Civil Defense Units) and Turkish security forces between the years 2015 and 2016 in the Nusaybin district of the city Mardin by particularly focusing on female IDP's conflicts, empowerment mechanisms, solidarities and resistance practices between the years 2016-2020. It asks two fundamental questions: How do people behave when they lose their homes and when they make new homes? And how do they make meaning out of these processes? To be able to make sense of the losses of both of private and public homes in light of these questions, the presentation is organized into three main parts: economic aspects, psycho-cultural aspects and political aspects of homelessness and homemaking.
