With a long-established myth of being non-colonised and the purpose to maintain its rich heritage as well as to secure a global presence of Thailand, the overview of the evolution of
Thai higher education will be articulated. How coloniality shaped Thailand and the hidden influences from Western countries since the colonial period until the post WWII functioned and
presented through Thai higher education will be discussed. The presentation aims at introducing a project expecting to contribute to a better understanding of the opportunities and the threats involved in modelling a higher education system on different socio-political and cultural context.
