For detailed information please visit www.global-studies-programme.org.
The Global Studies Programme (GSP) is a two-year Master programme. The mission of the programme is to study social sciences in various cultures and regions. It is jointly conducted by Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, Chulalongkorn University (Bangkok) Jawaharlal Nehru University (New Delhi) and FLACSO Argentina (Buenos Aires). Each institution is among the best in its region.
Students begin the program in Germany at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin. They spend the following two semesters on different continents and their final semester writing a Master thesis in Berlin. Students are also encouraged to complete an internship, for example at embassies, NGOs, development agencies and prestigious organizations such as UNICEF, UNDP, and the World Bank. Upon completion of the programme, a joint degree is awarded.
Students learn to approach the world and globalization from various regional perspectives and disciplines. The programme focuses on multicentric social theory and politics. The multicultural experience is enhanced by the multicultural composition of the group of students. Each group comprises students from all parts of the world.
In 2014 the structured PhD program "Global and Area Studies" came to life. The doctoral program is run together with a number of international partners, including Chulalongkorn University, Jawaharlal Nehru University, FLACSO Argentina, Università di Bologna and Universidade Federal Fluminense.
