Dr. Lötzke completed her Diplom in Indology at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, and earned her doctorate in modern Hindi literature in 1986. She co-authored a Hindi-German dictionary, the Handwörterbuch Hindi-Deutsch (Margot Gatzlaff-Hälsig, ed., Hamburg 2002), which has attained the status of a standard reference work in German-speaking countries. Since 1989 she has translated various works of Hindi prose into German.
